Apropos of Lord of the Rings

Leonard Nimoy sings! If you haven’t heard him wailing on this tune, now you can SEE him wail on it. (Click on the “Spock’s A Hobbit” link.)

It’s “The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins” by Leonard Nimoy. Cringe along with the music. I’m going to see the movie on Thursday night.

Y’know, the tune itself wasn’t that bad. Well, ok, yeah it was. And Nimoy didn’t really sing that bad. Well, ok, yeah he did. And girls in sweaters with pointy ears really turn me on. Well, ok, no they don’t.
Classic cringing material. The girls actually reminded me of stuff you’d see regularly on the original series (‘cept with more skin. I share amazement with Steve Troop that ST ever got past censors.). As for Nimoy, I was pleasantly surprised that his voice isn’t that bad. I might not have even cringed if the song wasn’t about The Hobbit (with booming Bilbos sprinkled throughout.).
Makes me even more happy that that version of LOTR starring the Beatles was never made.
