I want to be able to visit a web site that would give me information (or a link to the information) about when any given band will be releasing their next album. No two singers or bands have the same “schedule” or record deal or any way of making their releases on a regular timetable. Usually, you wait a couple of years after the last album when the tour is winding down and wait for word on the next. Some singers have decent web sites (Weird Al Yankovic) which will drop hints as the album moves along. Others have nothing, or barebones record label pages slapped together with all the same promo pictures and bio’s.

There’s no central clearinghouse for news or rumors in this regard. I went around the web searching for info on the nxt Wallflowers album (unlikely to be this year, really) or Barenaked Ladies (they’re due for one this year) album. Couldn’t find anything useful. Most of the info still regards their previous albums.

How nice would it be to have one web site to go to where you can peruse a database with links to stories and web sites and pages that have the info, or details that would lead to the info. Something simple, really: Date of release for the last album, then any official and unoffical scheduling and content information for the next one. Heck, if you really want to go overboard: Have a complete list of previous releases and work out the average time between album releases to forecast the next one. Start up a betting pool on the date of the next release.

Just an idea.
