24: Season Two

Spoilers for the end of Season One in this post
The new boxed set of DVDs for the second season of the Kiefer Sutherland thriller is due out in April now, and boasts some 44 deleted scenes amongst the extras.
There was some controversy in the first season’s release when scenes that were shown in the U.K. but not in the U.S. weren’t included in the DVD set. The UK shows less commercials and so uses those extra scenes, some of which turn out to be valuable. (There was a bit at the end of the first season where Nina learns Teri is pregnant. Doesn’t seem like much at the time, but it puts the ending in a whole new light.)
It sounds like 44 deleted scenes means they’re including those bits this time around. I just hope they integrate them back into the episodes and don’t stash them away on a separate disc for the viewer to tediously work his or her way through. That would also mean they took the time to make anamorphic widescreen transfers of them like the rest of the episodes, and won’t just show us the 1.33:1 versions or non-anamorphic transfers as so many movies do.
Fingers crossed.

Any idea if those “deleted scenes” from the US are included on the British DVD? I still haven’t picked up the first season on DVD yet, but would consider picking up the British version over the U.S. one if it’s complete.

Hi Augie,
In answer to your thoughts on how the deleted scenes will be integrated into season 2, I found this message on thedigitalbits.com
They’ve also announced 24: Season Two for release on 9/23 (SRP $69.98). The 7-disc set will include anamorphic widescreen video, Dolby Digital 5.1 audio, forty-four deleted scenes and alternate ending with optional commentary (no kidding), three featurettes (On the Button: The Destruction of CTU, The Making of an Episode: Production and The Making of an Episode: Post-Production), two multi-angle scenes studies and audio commentary on six episodes (one per disc). Additionally, all of the deleted scenes and alternate endings will be optionally viewable during the episodes they’re taken from via seamless branching.

Thanks, RJ!
Jonah — I think they are included in the British edition of the set, but don’t quote me on that. Did you ever find a Region 2 DVD review web site? Wait, odds are better of finding the info on a R1 review site that gets cranky over the idea of missing scenes…
