META: RSS Feed and Advance Posting

There’s a little quirk to the b2 blogger program that this site uses. You can change the time and datestamp on any story you post. This can be very handy if you want to post something tomorrow or the next day. I use it a lot on days I think I’ve already posted enough, or with stories that are less time-sensitive and can fill out another day.

This weekend, I’ll probably be using it a lot. I’m leaving for the San Diego Comic-Con on Wednesday morning (14 July) and won’t be back in town until Monday. Over those days, though, I plan on having a few stories magically appear in my absence, simply by post-dating them.

The problem with this is the XML/RSS feed. It doesn’t take those dates and times into account. It lists the most recent batch of stories entered into the database, regardless of intended timestamp. As such, if you’re reading Various and Sundry through one of those feeds, be warned that I still do control the horizontal and vertical here and it’s not your computer that’s messed up. The stories will appear eventually. I promise.

Thanks for reading.
