Baseball playoffs

A horrible thought just occured to me: What if the Cubs meet the Red Sox in the World Series? Do their respective curses kick in and nuclear war begins before the first game starts?!?

No, it means I have to move out for a week – I live three blocks from Wrigley.

Game 7. Bottom of the ninth. Score tied. Sammy Sosa hits a long drive. Just before it goes over the fence a hand reaches down from Heaven, catches the ball, and God says “Time’s up.”

The meme I’ve been trying to spread is that 14 is the magic number for Armageddon, as 7 Sox wins and 7 Cubs wins leads to the End-of-the-World Series.

(Actually, my personal belief is that such a Series would result in the following being said on what would’ve been the opening day of the 2004 season; “And as we’re about to start the 1500th inning of game 7 of the 2003 World Series, it remains to be seen if either team can ever manage to actually win this thing.”

If that matchup happens no matter what happens a lot of people will be dying. Whichever team wins, the fans will be so overcome by shock that they’ll all have heart attacks. Whichever loses, the fans will commit the biggest mass suicide in history.

Have any of you seen “Curse of the Bambino” on HBO? It’s amazing! You’ll laugh and cray at the same time.

With the luck of these two teams, if they met in the World Series, Game 7 would come along and SOMEHOW, SOMEWAY, the game would end in a tie and none of them would be declared champs. So continues the curse.
