New records

I set a new personal record this morning. I had 50 e-mails waiting for me in my mailbox when I checked it for the first time of the day. Not a single one wasn’t spam. Not a single one came from a mailing list I only have vague interest in anymore. Every one was a variant spelling of a male impotency pill or an offer to save an African country or a low-carb diet offer or young Asian teens…

It’s just too bad that my web e-mail box doesn’t have the same SPAM filtering capabilities and power than my home mail program (Mozilla Thunderbird) has. Then I would have just thought I had NO e-mail whatsoever this morning, and ignorance would be bliss.

Bonus: WIRED has an interesting story on how the spam filtering method used by Mozilla (Bayesian) works against the latest attempts by the spammers to circumvent it. Stupid, stupid spammers.
