Sledgehammer to DVD!

Best news of the week:

Seminal 80s sit-com, SLEDGEHAMMER, will have its first season released to DVD, with plenty of input from its creator. This is the lowest rated series in TV history (at least, at the time) to be renewed for a second season. After a nuclear bomb exploded in the season finale. They don’t make shows like that anymore. Wow! I loved this show when I was a teenager. I thought it was hilarious, as did my brothers. (Plus, I was in love with Hammer’s partner.)

My Dad was another matter. We’d be cracking up and he would sit there shaking his head wondering why we were wasting our time on such drivel. But I caught him grinning every once in awhile.

I’m interested to see if stands the test of time.

As I recall, Hammer’s partner was cute. I’ll forever be scarred by the appearance of the detective from Mathnet on an episode of SLEDGEHAMMER, though. As I recall, she wore leather and sported a whip.

My father, thankfully, gave me my own warped sense of humor, so he would watch and laugh with me on this series.

Now if only they’d get POLICE SQUAD! out on DVD. . .
