Alf finally gets talk show
FOXNews.com – Foxlife – TV Land to Air Alf Special
Ed McMahon has found the unlikeliest of talk-show hosts to replace Johnny Carson: Alf, the alien from the planet Melmac. McMahon will be announcing “Heeeere’s Alf!” on a half-hour special that will air July 7 on TV Land, the cable channel said.
There’s been talk of an Alf talk show for years now. I’m glad to see they finally found a taker. I hope it’s successful. I think a talk show hosted by a furry puppet could work.
And at least Paul Fusco won’t laugh at his own lines like Robert Smigel… ;-)

Personally, I’d rather see Triumph the Comic Insult Dog get a talk show over Alf. I don’t see it lasting…

It’s good to see Alf back. “I think a talk show hosted by a furry puppet could work.” I think it could to. In fact, I think it has, but I’m struggling to remember where (it would be a British show though, I’d guess). Gilbert the Alien, Nobby the Sheep and Basil Brush have all been interviewers, but they were all on kids’ shows, and Emu was (in)famously interviewed on Parkinson (the best proper chat show, bar none, with Alan Partridge being the best non-proper chat show, but I digress…). I’ll have a think about it.
