When, for example, someone at Slashdot.org posts something that leads to my blog, the IE numbers fall to 40 percent and the number of Firefox users jumps up. The screen-resolution numbers usually go up too. What that tells me is that the very top and most influential “smart” users are turning away from IE.
John Dvorak’s article here is filled more with anecdotal reasoning than anything else, but it’s still an interesting analysis of the situation. My own stats show 30% of my visitors are using a Netscape-oriented browser, which includes both Netscape Navigator and Firefox variants.
