TV Season heats up

Tonight had two hours of EXTREME MAKEOVER: Home Edition, though I just couldn’t bring myself to sit through it. TiVo watched it, though. Tomorrow night, of course, will be the Behind The Scenes series for the same episode.

WORLD POKER TOUR has its Hollywood Home Game right now with William Shatner and some other people, include Marshall from ALIAS.

AMERICAN IDOL debuts on Tuesday night (2 hour episode), and then again on Wednesday (1 hour).

THE APPRENTICE returns on Thursday with a 90 minute episode.

All 3 CSIs are likely to be new this week.

CELEBRITY POKER TOUR starts its new season in the next week or two. SURVIVOR has been bumped up to a February start, due to CBS’ sagging ratings. NUMBERS begins next Sunday.

Is this an embarrassment of riches, or just embarrassing? You make the call.

My TiVo is overheating already.

Oh, and TILT started last week. I recorded two separate showings of it on ESPN, and neither one started on time, so I didn’t get the entirety of the episode. I’m not watching it until they can air an hour show in an hour time slot, starting on time and finishing on-time. It repeats Wednesday night at 7:30. I’m counting on that one. Otherwise, I’ll wait for a DVD or skip it entirely. There’s more to life…

And here I thought that I watched too much TV. All those shows and I’m not watching a single one. Right now, I’m pretty excited about the return of Scrubs and Arrested Development – seems like months since the last new episodes. I also watched the first two episodes of the new Battlestar Galactica this weekend and was impressed. The first episode is an intense one that got me hooked for the remainder of the season.

Augie (or any other Firefly fans out there) – do you remember which effects house was used on the TV series? Was it ZOIC? If so, then they are doing the effects for BSG and they look fantastic. The shots in space with the quick zoom up to ships reminds me of Firefly…sigh…September can’t come soon enough!

Please tell me that Shatner thought to say some of the classic Kirk lines about poker, particularly from The Corbomite Manueveur (sp?). Yes, this is a major get a life fanboy type thing to want. :-)

Trip – Yup, same effects house. Sounds like they learned their techniques on one show and are applying them to the next.

Tom – I haven’t watched it yet, but if they show up, I’ll try to rip that audio for this blog. That would be cool.

I have been really impressed so far with the new Battlestar Galactica as well. I loved the mini series, so was anxiously anticipating the series. The special effects are amazing as mentioned. Hey Aubie, have you gotten your Tivo to Go update yet? I haven’t gotten mine yet, but am anxiously looking forward to giving it a spin. I do know what you mean about an overloaded Tivo though!

This is a whole other topic, but I’m still waiting for my TiVo To Go software upgrade also. Guess the priority list that I signed up for 2 weeks ago really was meaningless.

No TiVo to go for me yet. I’m not all that anxious about it, though. I already have a DVD burner in my TiVo. So it’s not affecting me too much.
