And Internet? Pfah — when I started college in 1987, BBSes were still cutting edge. The REALLY fancy ones would periodically call each other up, automagically download information from each other, and then replicate it on the other site. This proto-networking was used for, well, door games, mostly. Even porn was too sophisticated for computers in those days.
