Thursday Link Dump

* What went wrong with SEAQUEST, besides the general suckiness of the show from beginning to end? An interesting look at how a network television can be created based on the strength of one name — Steven Spielberg — and renewed based on false hope and demographics. For me, one of the more interesting things to jump out of the article is that Terry O’Quinn was once considered to lead the show on its ill-fated third season. Michael Ironside was hired, instead, as the producers wanted.

Sequest… that’s so sad… one of the episodes they mention as being one Schnieder REALLY hated (the one with the two kids fighting with robots) is just about the ONLY episode I remember.

I liked that show. To hell with what that says about me. I didn’t LOVE it, mind you, I have SOME sense.

Is anybody else surprisingly upset that Jonathon Brandis killed himself? That one really haunts me for some reason.

It surprised me that Brandis killed himself, yes, but I really hadn’t seen him in anything else but SeaQuest myself.

He suffered from the Wesley Crusher syndrome ==> being cast as an unlikeable know-it-all kid. That follows actors and can keep people from getting jobs.

Ask Bill Mumy and Wil Wheaton about it…
