New Releases, 15 Nov 2005
Full release list here. This week’s podcast should be released tonight, but there’s a small chance it won’t make it till tomorrow night. We’ll see.
The amount of TV-on-DVD is overwhelming again this week, so let’s plow through some of those releases first:
Buffy the Vampire Slayer: The Chosen Collection (40-disc set)
All the seasons in one bix box, plus a bonus disc with more stuff.
Charmed: Season Three (6-disc set)
Cheers: Season Seven (4-disc set)
Fantasy Island: Season One (4-disc set)
Frasier: Season Seven (4-disc set)
Friends: Season Ten (4-disc set)
Friends: The One with All Ten Seasons (40-disc set)
If you hadn’t gone broke already on the 40 disc BUFFY set, you could always grab this one. These are both pikers, by the way. There’s a Mega Set out next week that you’ll have to see to believe. I’ll talk about it then.
The Flintstones: Season Four (4-disc set)
Huckleberry Hound: Vol. One (4-disc set)
The Yogi Bear Show: The Complete Series (4-disc set)
I put together the three Hanna Barbera releases here. Sadly, there are no Augie Doggie shorts in this HUCKLEBERRY HOUND set, so I don’t need to buy it. Pixie and Dixie are in there, though, which almost makes it tempting.
More TV shows, all of the movies, and a teaser for next week after the break:
Golden Girls: Lifetime Intimate Portraits Series
Who doesn’t love the Golden Girls? Great sit-com, and it holds up very well.
Home Movies: Season Three (3-disc set)
The Man Show: Season Four
Murder One: Season Two (5-disc set)
The Oprah Winfrey Show: 20th Anniversary DVD Collection (6-disc set)
It would be too easy to make Oprah jokes here, wouldn’t it? Drat.
Scrubs: Season Two (3-disc set)
I would love to buy SCRUBS at Amazon, but Best Buy offers the exclusive bonus disc with this set, too.
Stargate Atlantis: Season One
Tru Calling: Season Two (2-disc set)
And thus we finish up the list with two more genre shows.
Let’s go the movies:
The Harold Lloyd Comedy Collection: Vol. 1 (2-disc set)
The Harold Lloyd Comedy Collection: Vol. 2 (2-disc set)
The Harold Lloyd Comedy Collection: Vol. 3 (2-disc set)
The Harold Lloyd Comedy Collection (7-disc set)
For you classic movie fans, you’ll have plenty to digest there.
Madagascar (2005)
I would like to see this one. Might be a rental, though. The CGI looks nice, and the penguins steal the show, from all accounts. As a Linux fan, I like that.
Oklahoma!: Special Edition (2-disc set) (1955)
The Sound of Music: 40th Anniversary Edition (2-disc set) (1965)
…just in case you’re in the mood for musicals.
Stealth: Special Edition (2-disc set) (2005)
What’s so special about this movie? That it stunk so bad?
That’s it for this week, at least. I’ll be picking up SCRUBS and skipping the rest.
Next week is another insanely big week, including a release of the original AEON FLUX animation, more Kong than you can shake a stick at (8 movies), ALIEN VS. PREDATOR, SEINFELD, WAR OF THE WORLDS, and more. You’d almost think next weekend was the busiest shopping weekend of the year or something. . .

Didn’t Stealth just hit theaters not too long ago. I’m shocked and not shocked by how fast the DVD got to the small screen. I knew it would be quick. But THIS quick? Seems like yesterday I saw Jessica Biel promoting this movie on Letterman.

STEALTH was out in August, as I recall. Wait, I’ll look it up.
It came out July 29th. Made $31 million domestically.

Nothing for me this week. ESPECIALLY not Madagascar. Was one of the largest wastes of time I’ve ever accomplished (with the exception of the Penguins, a rather imaginative movie reference to Planet of the Apes). When will Hollywood learn that eating stool pellets is never funny and passing gas is rarely funny.
