New releases, 29 Nov 2005
I’m cutting this week’s list down to the bare bones.
First, the tv shows:
Family Guy Volume 3
Freakin’ sweet, indeed!
Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi (Vol 1 and Vol 2)
I still laugh at Katie and Matt trying to say this title out loud during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. BWAH HA HA
Mission Hill The Complete Series
Lotsa people liked this short-lived animated series, which started on the WB and wound up on the Cartoon Network to finish its life.
Project Runway Complete 1st Season
And to think, Bravo used to be a High Class network for the Upper Crust. That’s OK; I like CELEBRITY P0K3R SHOWDOWN enough to forgive them.
The movies are up after the break.
The Great Muppet Caper: Anniversary Edition (1981)
The Muppet Christmas Carol: Anniversary Edition (1992)
The Muppet Movie: Anniversary Edition (1979)
Muppet Treasure Island: Anniversary Edition (1996)
Getcher Muppet fix this week!
King Kong vs. Godzilla/King Kong Escapes (2-disc set) (1962/1967)
They won’t quit releasing these movies until Peter Jackson’s movie hits the screens.
The Land Before Time 2: Mysteries Beyond Great Valley
This is NOT a King Kong-related release, but I’m sure they’re hoping for mass confusion leading to big sales.
March of the Penguins (2005)
Finally, Linux’s mascot gets the attention he so richly deserves. Bob Saget is working on a parody movie for 2006 release. I kid you not.
Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005)
It’s a fun movie that runs on about 20 minutes too long with pointless repetition and credulity-stretching. But it’s stylish and fun, so if you don’t mind completely checking your brain at the door and not looking at your watching a half dozen times in the last half hour, you’re going to do OK.
A River Runs Through It: Deluxe Edition (1992)
Noooooo! And I thought I had finally heard the last of that movie title. No such luck.
Sky High (2005)
Disney’s original superhero school movie.
Next week is the traditional Maddest DVD Release Week of the year. It’s an insane list, with lots of great titles coming out. There are a few other weeks with more entries, but none with more quality entries.
Here’s just a quick sampling: 24 (Season Four), Cinderella Man, Fantastic Four, Garfield and Friends: Vol. 5, Gargoyles: Season Two Vol. 1, MacGyver: Season Four, Rock Star: INXS: The DVD, and Star Wars: Clone Wars: Vol. 2.
Yowzas!

Bravo used to be a High Class network for the Upper Crust
The same can be said for A&E, right? Yet A&E now airs how many reality shows, DOG, Inked and those annoying Gottis

Yep, they’re all crapping out in a desperate attempt to boost their ratings. Of course, an unfocused brand could be their death knell, too. We’ll see. . .

Hmm, Dog is okay, not sure how he catches anyone dressed like an out of work superhero, especially his wife-yowza.
Inked would be good if they ever showed anybody getting tattooed like Miami Ink does.
I actually dig Airline, of course I would be locked up if passengers spoke to me like they do those patient as hell SW service reps.

I’m still waiting for James Lipton to interview Pauly Shore, it isn’t that far off.

There’s yet another sequel for Land Before Time??? It’s funny that it’s Part 2 that they’re releasing because I know there’s about 6 or 7 sequels at least that went straight to DVD/video. This is the Land Before Time with the kid dinosaurs right?
