Next week’s theme
March 24th, 2006 -- by Augie De Blieck Jr.
Songs of the 21st century.
We see how well that theme worked for Ayla Brown. . . It’s a tougher category than you’d think. Since those songs are so recent, it takes a lot for a performer to step out from under the original’s more memorable shadow. It would be too easy to give a karaoke performance.
Post your suggested songs for specific contestants in the comments section below.
If Chris sings a Nickelback song, though, it might very well be the end of him. ;-)

No doubt we’ll have Ace poutting through an Enrique Iglesias special, probably Hero.

We will have our first crash and burn next week.

Ahem. And the problem with NICKELBACK would be what?? :)
Although they are so “current” and contemporary that not being compared to them or being forced to do a note by note identical recitation *is* likely. Maybe he’ll do an Evanescence song…
Do we think Lisa is going to go back to the ballads which served her so well the first couple of weeks??
Mark: Hero is definitely a possibility for Ace. ;)

Chris should take this week, easily. Looking forward to Ace’s selection after reading the above.
Lisa will probably go back to the ballads, her specialty. What remains to be seen is whether the judges will admonish her when she does.

Patricia - See an entry on his blog a couple of months ago noting how their two hit songs are one and the same. ;-)

Didn’t Constantine get booted after he sang “How You Remind Me” by Nickelback?

Yes, but Constantine, well…brooded well. That was about it. :)
