You’re not alone: ten states with the most [tag]hybrid[/tag]s – Autoblog

California wins all. New York comes in fourth. Here’s a surprise for those who like to play politics with everything — Texas is third.

Yeah, but, as someone who lives in Dallas, I can tell you that that’s just because there are a ton of registered drivers here, and everybody drives their own car. You’d have to do a percentage to impress me. The majority of people on the road here really do drive big trucks and SUVs. I rarely see a hybrid.

Being from Houston, and living in Austin, I know that Texas commutes are the worst. But the reason behind the surge in Hybrid sales in Texas is, I believe, related to Hurricane Rita. After the mass evacuation of the entire southern part of the state, and all the stranded motorists, everyone was looking for an alternative. I don’t know anyone who didn’t have a “friend of a friend” with a Prius who made the trip to Dallas in 10 hours without a tank refill. Since the hurricane, Toyota lots haven’t been able to keep the Prius or the Lexus Hybrids in stock.

“Being from Houston, and living in Austin, I know that Texas commutes are the worst.”
If only that were true …
Hollywood to Irvine and back, along some of the most congested freeway on the planet.
I’m convinced most LA freeway shootings were simply suicide attempts that missed.
