The TV Event of the Decade
Jun 23
Can there be any doubt that this is truly MUST SEE TV? That this will be the greatest two hour compilation of comedy ever seen on television?
FOXNews.com – Comedy Central to Air ‘The Roast of William Shatner’
William Shatner has always done an excellent job of poking fun at himself, but he’s going to have plenty of help this summer.
The 75-year-old actor-singer, who starred as Captain Kirk in “Star Trek,” will be the recipient of cheap shots and bawdy jokes — as Pamela Anderson was last year — at a Comedy Central celebrity roast in his honor, the channel has announced.
“Roast of William Shatner,” scheduled to air Aug. 20 (10 p.m. EDT), will be taped earlier that month in Los Angeles.
I’d set my TiVo for it today if I could. . .

Except it really all depends on who they get to roast him (/write the material for those who get to roast him).

It sounds like it’s at least got the potential to be pretty spectacular. :-)

My question is if any of the comedians will have the guts to call him out on the muskrat he wears on his head. That would be most uncomfortable and great television.

It doesn’t hurt that it’s CC; their Foxworthy and Anderson roasts were both worth watching (Bea Arthur reading from Anderson’s “novel” was worth it’s weight in gold).

Given the tone and material in past CC roats, I think the toupee will be fairly high on the list of things to make fun of for most comedians. I don’t think we’ll go past the ten minute part on the show without a reference to it. Let’s come back to that prediction in August, though. =)
