So you say you need a hard drive. . .

I just bought what I thought was a huge 200 GB hard drive not too many months ago. Ah, but progress marches on without me.
Best Buy has an external 500 Gig hard drive on sale this week for $230. It’s 7200 RPM and plugs in via the USB 2.0 port. The model comes from Western Digital.
NewEgg, meanwhile, has a 500 GB internal hard drive for $200. Again, it’s Western Digital and 7200 RPM. Since it’s not plugged in through your USB hub, I imagine it would be a little faster, too.
If that’s too rich for you, NewEgg also has a 320 GB internal model for $95 after rebate. ($105 before rebate.)
My itty bitty 80 GB primary hard drive on the Mac is starting to look so puny.

A look at today’s new DVD releases is coming up a little later today. . .

I got a 200GB drive on Black Thursday a couple of years ago and thought it would be “forever” before I filled it. It’s not filled yet. I still have 50 GB sitting empty, which is 20 GB larger than my previous computer’s HD, but it sure seems like I’m in DIRE need of more space.
I saw that Newegg special early this A.M. and am seriously considering it. As I continue to toy with digital video, I realize a man cannot have too many gigabytes. It’s like having too much fun on vacation, or having too pretty a girlfriend, or having too much money, or having too nice of a car. There isn’t any such thing!

I really want to buy a new hard drive. But unfortunately I just can’t justify it for myself. I currently have only an 80 GB drive, but for some reason I have a lot of trouble filling hard drives! So, I feel like I would have a lot of wasted space. Probably just wait until it is time to buy a new computer.
