TREK learned nothing from Lucas: The original STAR TREK series is being remastered for HDTV with new space special effects. No DVD plans for them yet, though.
STARGATE: SG-1 is cancelled, but can it return as a digital download? The producers think that it might.
Screen shots from the latest Windows Vista beta. I like the commenter who asks for a screen shot of the BSOD. Bwah ha ha
Here’s the Mini Cooper Hybrid. I don’t think this is a production vehicle yet, though.
Windows Vista is going to set you back $200, plus whatever costs you incur buying a new video card to handle it.
2 million unique users have played with their Nintendo DSes in Wi-Fi mode. And this week’s release, STAR FOX COMMAND, looks pretty cool.
Web Flash game of the day: Squares. So far, I’m at 5570 points, with 64 squares. (The slow motion bonus is a beautiful thing.) The goal in this game is to move your square around the board, hitting only the other black squares, not the red ones which will kill you.

Wow 0-60 in 4 seconds for a hybrid….Impressive… Also, I’m scared to see the Lucas/Spielberg influence to update special effects continue to spread… But, I’m not really a trekkie so it doesn’t bother me that much… They are reviewing all the footage to insure that no one on Star Trek ever shoots first (ala Han Solo)…

I am excited to hear the news that Stargate SG-1 may be continuing in some form. I recently jumped on board the show (and bought all the previous seasons on DVD) and have really been enjoying it. I was sad to hear Sci Fi no longer wanted it, but also paid attention to the fact that MGM still has not officially cancelled the show. I think it would be great to have some for of download for future seasons.

About Star Trek. I think this is actually a very good thing. The main problem with Lucas’ special editions is that he has prevented the originals from being made available. With Star Trek: TOS, the originals are already available (in individual volumes and sets) in a high quality format. Personally I would really enjoy seeing Trek with improved effects. I know that many times when I was watching the reruns on Sci Fi I had to really concentrate to suspend disbelief. Some of the effects were just so bad that you can’t help but be taken out of the moment.
Stargate is cancelled? My sister will be heartbroken. She’s been a loyal viewer for years. Still, 10 seasons is a good run for any show. I long for the day when animated series regularly last this long (or half this long).
