The SCO Legal Lottery Coming To An End?
One can only hope. . .
IBM files for summary judgment against SCO
All has been quiet on the SCO v. IBM front lately, but that may be about to change. Yesterday, IBM filed several motions for summary judgment covering all of SCO’s claims and two IBM counterclaims. SCO countered by filing a single motion for partial summary judgment on four of IBM’s counterclaims.
The judge handling this didn’t go for the summary judgment last year, but cited SCO’s lack of a case. A year later, SCO hasn’t been able to produce any of the proof they claim to have that Linux infinges on their IP. It’s possible the judge might see that lack of progress and finally bring this case to an end. It’s a case that never should have gone this far to begin with — it’s been clear from the start that SCO was out to extort money from IBM to save their failing company.
