Boston Legal - 24 October 2006

Boston LegalLast night’s episode had it all, didn’t it? Pants-fittings, little people visual humor, Gina Gershon references, a reference to a blow up doll that looks like Candace Bergen, Lake Bell in various states of undress, William Shatner smoking a cigar, Coho nearly going loco, and — oh, yeah — a pretty cool legal case that took some icky twists and turns. The only thing it lacked was a three minute monologue delivered by James Spader as a closing statement.
And next week - Hands returns!

I love this show. And I love this poster, too. I wish I had a dorm room wall upon which to hang it.

As an actual lawyer in real life, I was my firm was as fun as this show; I’d kill for a senior partner like William Shatner. I also love this show; it’s funny how William Shatner has undergone such a complete career metamorphasis - from rising star to T.J. Hooker to butt of many joes to embracing those jokes and now, actually showing off some real acting chops.
And Spader is great; I keep hearing that Hollywood is planning on adapting Harlan Coben’s first Myron Bolitar novel; if they do, I can’t think of anyone better suited to playing Myron’s dangerous sidekick, Win, than Spader.

And by “was” I meant “wish” ; I’m afraid this morning’s does of caffeine has yet to kick in.

I thought that last night’s ep was the best of the season so far. To quote, Constance Zimmer’s character after the big reveal after the verdict was issued, “Ick and double Ick!”

I laughed like a fool at the ending. How many episodes in a row have they run that gag with Shatner and the little person and it’s still funny?

That gag with Shatner and the little person is perfect and will never get old with me. I confess that I have only started consistently watching this show this year and it has become a guilty pleasure. Great ensemble acting, lots of activity and twists and turns, and Shatner and Spader have a relationship that is perfect. This is why we have TV!
