LOST found sooner than expected?
December 19th, 2006 -- by Augie De Blieck Jr.
Apparently, amid fears that the ongoing string of critically challenged replacements will bury ABC’s chances of regaining its Wednesday footing, execs at the alphabet network have dropped in on the LOST crew with the following proposition: how much money do you need to get LOST on the air early… […]
If it is done, LOST would return January 10th or January 17th, three to four weeks earlier then previously expected.

SWEET
I’d take a 3-4 week break in March to have it on the air earlier.
Maybe they can use that extra money to put MORE episodes on the air? I mean, didn’t we get like 25 hours woth of Lost in the first season, then only 24 last year, and the plan was for 22 or 23 this year (depending on a 2 hour finale)? Let’s add 2 episodes and double-size that finale! Yee haw!
On a seperate note, I’ll really miss Day Break. My wife and I liked it a lot, and plan to finish watching it on ABC.com. It’s sad that it didn’t make it… it was a neat little show. I wish they’d just dumb all 7 remaining episodes at once, though… I don’t want to have to check in to their website every Wed night for the next 7 weeks.

Pulling DAYBREAK bothers me because it seems like networks won’t let their shows grow an audience. This immediate returns thing bothers me, especially with a limited run series.

I think coming back for another 6-8 weeks, then having a month break, and then a straight run of the remaining episodes - would be perfect. People’s main complaint about LOST ( and my mom’s about ER ) - is that week to week - you just never know if it’ll be new or not. As long as we’re aware - that’s all that matters.
As for Daybreak - while a neat one-off idea - such as for a movie or Twilight Zone episode - it didn’t really work for a week to week series. The acting, particularily by Diggs, was above-average - and it did have a subtle dark humour to it that made it enjoyeable - but none of this could get past the concept which just didn’t succeed as a week to week concept.

I don’t mind Lost coming back early. Even if they take a small break in the middle or even end the season a little earlier, I don’t mind one bit. I was going to watch Day Break, but I decided not to after getting burned by a lot of other serialized shows getting cancelled. Glad I did now.
