I’m still tempted to write up a full review of BAT 3, Eric. I think I might have a lot to say about it. But to sum it all up: I liked it, but it’s not nearly as good as the first two. In fact, I think I liked the last album, “Couldn’t Have Said It Better,” more. The problem with Bat 3 is that it feels like an anthology, not an album. Too many different styles. Too many guest singers. An odd and mismatched assortment of Steinman tunes. There’s lots to like on there, but it doesn’t hold together as much as I wish it would.

Augie, what did you think of Bat Out of Hell 3, anyway? I liked it, but am still trying to decide how much I liked it, if that makes any sense.

I only heard the middle to end of Paradise by the Dashboard Light and he was sounding a bit off. Sort of reminded me of Jack Black, as opposed to what I was expecting. He could have been great for the rest, I only saw this part.

He sounded great in spots. And again, it could have been sound mixing or the short versions of the songs and whatnot, but he didn’t carry the songs through, if you know what I mean. He’d hit some amazing notes here and there, but the stuff in between didn’t flow as well. The background singers and the musicians had to carry it, generally speaking.

Dang it. I watched bits and pieces of the the first half hour last night, saw the ball drop, then deleted it from the DVR. Wish I had known Natasha was going to be on.
