Thursday Link Dump
Katharine McPhee News:
- Need to see more of Katharine McPhee? Here you go.
- Want to hear more of McPhee’s new album? Check out her record company’s website. If you like Beyonce, you’ll like some of the album, I think. Sadly, it doesn’t sound so great. There’s a song in there devoted to her love of open toed shoes. I kid you not. It’s called “Open Toes.” What the — ?!?
Wii:
- Super Mario Kart 64 is coming to the Virtual Console next week. The News Channel goes live on Saturday. Wii Play is due out mid-February.
TV:
- Searching (and finding) American Idol contestants on MySpace. Remember when you’d find them on LiveJournal? Ah, how times have changed.
Web/Tech Geekery:
- Interesting curiosities in web site code.
- Nerdgasm: Apple Widget to track Wii Availability.
- Tutorial to create STAR WARS logo and scrolling text.
- The Grammar Girl podcast gets a CNN writeup. I’ve downloaded this podcast for about three months now. One of these days, I’ll listen to one. ::sigh::
- The RPM Challenge is like NaNoWriMo for bands — record an album (10 songs, 35 minutes) in 28 days. Starts in February.
- Piano Hero.
- Optimus Prime iPod Dock.
- Love this blog design. Completely spartan, but unlike any other I’ve seen.

“Open Toes.” See what I mean? Kat knows what she’s working with. Like I said before, they should have shown her barefoot on the album cover. Or open-toed. Either way.

Suggested songs for future McPhee albums:
Wilson Pickett’s “Toe Hold” Michael Franks’ “Popsicle Toes”

That iPodimus Prime dock is mindblowing, even to this Transformers fan. Combine that with news of Soundwave MP3 players (uses mini-SD cards) and Nike (seriously, Nike) branded toys that transform from shoe to Optimus or Megatron, and you’ve got me scratching my head wondering what TakaraTomy will think up next for the Japanese TF market.
I’ll have to look at Piano Hero sometime. I’d love it if they came out with an official mini keyboard controller to rock out to an 80′s pop-synth version of GH.
And that SW intro program is EXACTLY what I needed two years ago. I found some tutorials on TheForce.net that got me a rather credible looking spoof, but this does it all in one program? Without having to create the logo myself? Awesome!
Except… it’s for Mac. Yes, Augie, you can once again shake your head at me in shame. :)

Last night on Idol was it just me or did I see that young opera school girl wearing a Cherry T-shirt? Anyone else notice that? Strange comic to like for a young girl

FYI: Your MK64 on Wii link points to something else.

Thanks, Rick. I’ve corrected it with the proper link.
Pork – I didn’t notice her shirt, but it wouldn’t surprise me. I’ve launched the AI thread for NYC now. You might want to re-ask over there to hit the target audience. ;-)
Phil – I’m not ashamed of you. But you’ll learn your own lesson some day. ;-)
Juan – I can’t bring myself to toe your line.

Sorry Augie, I’ve never heard of that song. But I did remember Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam’s “Head to Toe.”

I am sad to admit I ordered Ipodiums Prime and the Nikepodimus Prime early last week because I couldn’t resist. It seems that nothing can dull my love for the Transformers.

Arune – I wish I could justify the expense of iPodimus and the Nike TFs. As it is, even though I love TFs a lot, it’s getting harder and harder for me to include them in my budget. I was a US-toy completist since 1996, plus I bought a lot of the Japanese TFs during that decade, so it feels odd to not be buying everything with the TF logo on it. As it stands, I will still be completing the run of the current Classics toys, and then whatever movie toys grab my eye. And of course the splurge for BotCon in Rhode Island this summer. :)
Anyway, I SHOULD be buying iPodimus — I’ve got so many Optimus toys, it’s unreal, plus I need an iPod dock. But… couldn’t they also release a Nemesis Prime/Scourge (whatever you want to call it) version in black? :)
