I’m afraid you won’t see a dramatic improvement unless the game supports progressive scan. Most non-Nintendo games don’t, unfortunately. I’d heard early reports that all Wii games would support 480p, but that hasn’t been the case with Rayman RR and THDJ.

But, there’s a collection of Gamecube games that look pretty good in 480p widescreen. I took the opportunity to replay Metroid Prime and finish it this time.

Yeah, I’m lovin’ the component cables. Not every game supports it, but those that do…wow. Zelda especially is quite impressive. Wii Sports actually looks pretty cool too. And Wii Play.

Thanks for the input, Rick. I’ll have to keep my eyes sharp for how Wii Sports looks, then, over RRR. And we’ll see what comes down the pike next. Certainly, there’ll be The Next Big Thing later this year which will take full advantage of it. Who knows? By then I might also have an HDTV. That would be nice.

Brock – How’s Wii Play for you? Are you enjoying it? Is it as shallow as the reviews say it is? Or just a lot of simple fun?

I can see why they named it the Wii, but for me I’ll always refer to it as the Revolution. That name I feel is perhaps a better title for it as it is actually revolutionary in the way it plays and with the new style of controllers. It looks like this one continues to rumble on.

Man you guys are so lucky to have Wiis. Ha, it sucks having a student budget. Ah well at least I can still hammer away at the Metroid Primes on the good old Gamecube.

You know, at first I didn;t like the name Wii. To be honest, it didn’t take me too long to get over it though and I really like the name now.

Actually, Google’s had NYC offices for at least 4 years. It’s just that we moved ‘em recently and they finally got their own Google chef staffed cafe.
