I’m leaving this one up to all of you, kind readers. Because I’ve fallen ill and spent most of yesterday sleeping, I never saw IDOL last night. I hope to catch up with it tonight before the results show, but I’m never going to have enough time to write it all up.
So what did you think? Did anyone crash and burn? Who was the biggest disappointment? Who impressed you the most? Did anyone surprise you? Did Simon and Paula fight again?

Antonella NEEDS to go! But I’m sure she’ll be safe again. The girls were not nearly as good (overall) as they were last week. Melinda was probably the best of the night for me.

Melinda was the best of the night and she sang my all time favorite song “My Funny Valentine”! Overall, I still think the women are better than the guys. Hope to see Melinda, Stephanie, Lakisha, and Sabrina in the top 12.

Melinda was UNBELIEVABLE last night. Her rendition of “My Funny Valentine” was an AI performance for the ages, and we’re only two weeks into this thing. I’m expecting at least a couple more killers from her before it’s all over. LaKisha, Stephanie and Sabrina were also up there.
I’m just awaiting that moment when someone (Simon?) asks, “Can Melinda win with her looks? Will she sell records?” And then they’ll get into that DREAMGIRLS / Jennifer Hudson discussion about how looks shouldn’t matter, how it should all be about talent, etc. etc. I’m curious to see how that will play out.
What to do about Antonella? She is clearly the worst and deserves to go tonight. But, honestly, with that body and the potential for more Internet mayhem, I say keep her around as long as a potential winner (Melinda, LaKisha, Stephanie, Sabrina) doesn’t get kicked out instead. She is some primo eye candy.

Unfortunately, I didn’t see AI this week… or last, to be honest. Just not enough time in the world, and I’m already — wait, let me count — 3 episodes behind on LOST, 4 behind on PRISON BREAK, one behind on BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, and I punted already on some eps of HOUSE and BONES. A shame I missed it as I love “My Funny Valentine”.

I know this puts me in the minority, but I don’t think Antonella is all that hot. Maybe it’s because I’ve seen enough of these stereotypical Jersey Shore Girlz in action to know that it’s usually not a pretty sight, but she does nothing for me.
Just watched last night’s episode. “My Funny Valentine” was great, but nothing else jumped out as strongly as last week’s show. Paula has become a completely incompetent judge — even moreso than usual — but it’s still a fun show.

Augie, AGREED. Antonella is run of the mill Jersey girl. And her attitude is grating.
I actually watched the ENTIRE episode so I could better relate to my buddy Augie. ;)

Did Leslie and AJ sing the same song or am i hearing things??? i swore they sang “new day, new dawn, new life” just in different ways…

Yes, they sang the same song. Which made Leslie’s sign off of “why did I try to scat, America hates jazz,” even more amusing.

No Augie, you are not alone. I do not think Antonella looks hot at all. I am ready to not see her on my TV screen anymore.

I can’t believe I’m mentioning this, but Kelly P. ALWAYS had a rather….curvaceous posterior. My husband pointed out several times last season. So when she showed up last night, at least THAT hadn’t changed. :)
