I completely agree on your top 3, Augie. But my favorite performance of the night was -- I kid you not -- Sanyaja. Not because he was good (although it was his best performance so far) but because the combination of his daring to take on that Kinks classic, and that little girl crying uncontrollably, absolutely had me in stitches from beginning to end.

Anyway, If Sanyaja can somehow keep up this level of hilarity, I hope he stays around a few more weeks.

(Btw, did I actually hear Simon say he'd never heard "Don't Let the Sun Catch You Crying" before? How can that possibly be?!?!!)

I feel like I say this every year, but I find it really tiresome when contestants act flummoxed by having to sing a genre that's "out of their element." You're supposed to be musicians, kids. And these are just songs. Learn a little history ... it won't hurt you. Look at Kanye West. He *sampled* "Diamonds Are Forever" and had a hit record. The better-informed you are about what's out there -- new and old -- the better chance you have of going someplace in this business.

On the other hand, too much knowledge can be a bad thing. Witness Chris Sligh, who looks more calculating and less human every week.

Bottom three prediction: Definitely Phil and Stephanie (though I really like the latter), and either Gina or Haley or Chris R. right there with them, though I don't think any of those three are going home, so I won't commit to any of them.

I think Phil's gone, and it won't bother me a bit. I'm worried about Stephanie, though. She's got a lot more to give, and I'd like to see her make a Jordin-like comeback next week.

That Jordin, man. Out of nowhere, one of the best performances of the season so far.

I called Hayley's number a little more than an hour after the broadcast just to see if I could get through -- in fact, I was able to get through about a dozen times in a row with no busy signal. The curse of the first lives on. I was a fan of those shorts . . .

I think Sanjaya and Haley will make it to the top ten only because of a market strategy for better ticket sales for the tour. Their popularity will utimatley be what gets them to the tour and not their singing ability.

Unfortunately, this means a better singer will be booted at the expense of Sanjaya and Haley. This means either Phil, Stephanie, or Gina could end up in the bottom 3, but I'm not counting out a surprise bottom 3. I hope Stephanie makes it another week, but I won't be surprised if she doesn't.

I believe I read that the crying little girl was from the Make-A-Wish foundation.

In regards to Sanjaya, I just wonder what Ray Davies thought...

However, I was quite impressed with Jordin this week. I was not familiar with the song, but I think she followed Lulu's advice and really got into the song. It worked for her.

I also did not agree with the judges about Chris. I thought the entire time that it was a bad song choice, since I knew the song. It sounds like a boy-band-esque revamp of an '60s hit.

Overall, I have a bad feeling for Phil or Haley this week.

I had a strange feeling that Sanjaya would get the boot this week but after they kept the camera on the little girl, I think it's safe to say he's staying. Jeeeeez that performance was sooooooooooooo bad.

My gut feeling after the show last night is that Gina is the most in trouble at this point, with Stephanie following right behind her. I leave Haley out because I think her outfit might have saved her. But I think it'll be Gina going home tonight, leaving us with one more week of the Great Sanjaya.

My gut is saying Stephanie will get the boot, but Gina and Haley could also be in trouble. Sanjaya is such a joke -- how much longer can he last?!? Chicken Little finished 11th, so hopefully Sanjaya will go home soon. I thought Blake, Jordin, and Melinda were the best of the night.
