24 Season Six – 10:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
Apr 10
This is the either the best episode of the series, or the most ludicrous.
For starters, the pay off on last week’s cliffhanger was great. I thought they sold it well. And Dwayne Wayne Palmer is my new hero. Sadly, they continue to stretch out his medical condition, and he continues to push himself past ludicrousness, but that’s another story. Hey, if Jack can do it AND fire a gun at the same time, why can’t the President negotiate and sit up straight?
This was Jack Bauer’s episode, from beginning to end, though. He owned it. He almost got the quote of the night with, “Now we’re gonna have some fun.” But I think Ricky Schroder topped him with “Damn, Jack” at the end. Jack Bauer isn’t a man. He’s a force of friggin’ nature. Just don’t think about it too much, because they really stretched credulity at one point and you had to make the conscious decision to give them enough literary license to pay off the story. Now, the second story can begin. Oh, what a cliffhanger. It’s one we all saw coming in one fashion or another, but it’s great to see it here. We have, what, eight episodes to go? Whoo-hoo!
Discuss all the spoilers you’d like for the season thus far in the comments below. Just don’t talk about the coming attractions!

“Damn, Jack” sums up the best parts of 24. And yes, Wayne (who’s this “Dwayne”, Augie? ;) ) finally shows he has intestinal fortitude. About time. But the whole almost-dying/in-a-coma/out-of-the-coma is really unbelievable. Then again, this is the series that gave new definition to the word “quickie” last season…
And when Jack was beating the crap out of Fayed, I was thinking, “There are still 6-7 hours left, how is Fayed going to escape?” So when Fayed actually DID die, I thought, “… oooookay, so, what, the rest of the day is spent chasing his father?”
So now we have the Chinese. And Audrey.
Whoopie. :P
Granted, I only started watching 24 last season, but I was not impressed with Audrey’s character. I’m not entirely optimistic about the rest of this season. Then again, a lot of this season has been bogged down in political doings, which I’ve found tedious.

I like watching Die Hard style chain attacks, and i like vampire bites. I fully expect that when Jack gets down to business in the final eps of this season, he will again utilize the skills he’s learned from John McClane and Vlad the Impaler.
Anything less would be a disappointment.

Augie,
This was easily the best episode of this season. Jack just unloading on the terrorists was just great. You had it all from the trip into the neck snap into the gun shoot out into the one on one which included empty guns being thrown, Fayed getting thrown into a workbench (which when slowed down, looked like that really hurt), kicking, choking, a big ass wrench being flung around, a chain, the shoulder wound death grab, a bit, a headbutt, and the chain noose with Jack polishing it off with a “Say hello to you brother” was just incredible. And I got a huge laugh out of Ricky’s “Damn, Jack…..” line.
My favorite exchange of the evening were between the President (Wayne) Palmer and the Ambassador of “Nameless Middle Eastern Country”…..
Ambassador of “Nameless Middle Eastern Country”: I can assure you every effort is being made to get information from him. We have even arrested his family.
President Palmer: Have you threatened to kill them?
From the sounds of that line, I’d guess the adrenaline that they were shooting Wayne up with must have come from Jack Bauer.

What a great episode! It’s about time too, I was really losing faith in it. Hopefully they can keep the momentum going for the rest of the season. Does anyone know if the ex-Prez and Martha will be back? Did they ever tell us what happened to the ex-Prez after Martha stabbed him? I keep thinking that needs to be addressed. Whatever, I am now looking forward to the final episodes with renewed gusto.

I was waiting for the mini-climax around hour 12 where it usually happens, and we spin off in a new-but-related direction. I see they put it off until hour 16 this time. That may have been a mistake, because I felt they were treading water for several episodes.
But, I love having my expectations defied, and I did not expect Fayed to be killed and the nukes recovered in this episode. Now, let’s have some action.

Yippe-kay-aye. Time to go after Audrey. But please, please PLEASE can we have some more of Jack’s father?
