AI6 - Round of 7 - Results
Our long national nightmare has, at last, come to an end. It took a record-breaking 38+ million votes, but Sanjaya Malakar is out of the competition.
Let’s take a quick look back:

Ah, good times.
More shocking, perhaps, is that the other part of the bottom three was LaKisha and Blake (!). Blake went last, did well, and got positive reaction from the judges. Those are usually three big vote-getters. Maybe everyone figured he did so well that he was safe and so why vote? LaKisha is a little less shocking — I called that one. But it’s all I got right this week. Ah, well.
Fergie and Martina McBride sang. Antonio Banderas and Jeffrey Katzenberg pimped SHREK THE THIRDE. (I honestly can’t recall if I ever saw the second one. I know I have the DVD around here somewhere, though.) And Bucky Covington was spotted in the audience. His CD just came out this week, but he got no screen time to promote it. Ouch.
Ladies and gentlemen, Sanjaya Malakar is gone. Let us not forget him. Ever.
AMERICAN IDOL Season Six is now halfway home. Next week is the marathon donation begging event of the century. Who will be the two singing legends singing together? Stay tuned.

Anyone remember what I wrote in yesterday’s performances comments? Here it is:
“Sanjaya will land in the bottom 3 tonight, and might even get the boot. He bored me last night, so I have no problem with that.”
Who’s your daddy?

Oh, and once Kelly Clarkson sings next week, this season is over for me. (Applause and cheers from the other regulars.)

And all is right with the world once more!!
Wonder why his flock stopped voting for him suddenly. Did votefortheworst and Stern just give up pimping him or was it just people realized he was too horrible to stick with?

Zeb - Not that I ever think those two have a large enough draw to affect the results, but let’s assume they do for the moment. As the season winds on and more people watch and have fewer options as to who to vote for, the votes will begin to consolidate around the top singers. The vocal minorities who vote for the worst will be drowned out as their camp doesn’t grow.
It’s why one of the questions that must be asked each week is “Where will their votes go?” after someone gets eliminated. I don’t know who Sanjaya’s voters will flock to next week. Maybe Chris or Blake? If it’s the tweenie female vote that kept him around, then those same girls using that same logic will go for the next cutest guy. That ain’t Phil Stacey. I imagine that Jordin might pick up some of those votes, too, just based on demographics — younger and female will vote younger and female.
We’ll see. Starting next week, half of the remaining contestants (and then more) will be in the bottom three each week. Prepare for the surprises.

I honestly thought ol’ Malakar was invincible and I was convinced Lakisha was going home. I was shocked, awed, astounded with the results last night. Yes the nightmare is finally over…and just when I started to root for him too. But now, it’s a real competition.
