Full List

And here are my highlights and the witty commentary you so hope to read. I have to say, I’m very excited for this week’s DVD releases, mainly the TV releases:

Beverly Hills, 90210 - The Second Season

  • Beverly Hills 90210: Season Two

The best show on television in the past 25 years IMHO is finally getting the DVD treatment, and you know, it’s about time, right? These are going straight from Amazon’s warehouse to my DVD shelf, to be archived for all time. I just hope they don’t do one of those 10 seasons in one box treatments, because then I’ll be buy the DVDs all over again.

  • Dinosaurs: Seasons 3-4 (4-disc set)

Dinosaurs? Really. Is there really a market for this TV show to be release on DVD? This is the one with Stuart Pankin and people in Dinosaur suits basically ripping off the Honeymooners (to a degree). Right? This show always freaked me out. I mean, there are people in bulky, rubbery Dinosaur suits. How did that last 4 seasons?

  • Matthew Barney: No Restraint

A little esoterica as we present the movie by artist Matthew Barney, who is married to Bjork. Is it weird? Totally. Does it make any sense? Probably not. Is it pretentious? Absolutely. But its beautiful and compelling as any art flick you’ll ever see.

    Fletch (The \

  • Fletch: The “Jane Doe” Edition (1985)

Arguably one of Chevy Chase’s best films. I remember watching this in middle school and just thinking it was the funniest thing I’ve ever seen. Remember when Kevin Smith wanted to do another Fletch movie with Jason Lee as Fletch? That would have been good. I don’t know what the specifics are behind this “Jane Doe” edition, but I’m sure it’s got something worth purchasing. Outtakes would be rad.

  • An Officer and a Gentleman: Special Edition (1982)

My mom loves this movie.

It seems like it was a quiet week for DVD releases, and kinda weird. Next week looks promising with Big: Director’s Cut (1988), Dirty Dancing: 20th Anniversary Edition (1987), Donnie Brasco: Extended Cut (1997), That Thing You Do! Director’s Cut (2-disc set) (1996) and the TV set I know you’ve been waiting for: Cagney & Lacey: Season One
