Could you especially let us know if the 880 fits well in the charging cradle? I’ve see reports that older models sometimes go in but the contacts to recharge the batteries don’t match up well or something and you don’t end up charging the remote. Something about 1 beep vs. 2 beeps? thanks!

Will do, Peter! Honestly, I didn’t watch much TV today, so I’m not sure how it’s working. Right now, it seems to be sitting on the cradle just fine, but it does fit loosely enough in there to still wiggle. It’s not a perfect fit, but it is connecting and I’m comfortable with it so far.

Peter, I have had my 880 for about 3 months now and I haven’t had any problems with the 880 cradle. I think there was only one time where I didn’t get it set on there right and it didn’t start charging, but that was because I wasn’t paying attention when I put it in the cradle. Of course, I always check to make sure it starts charging before walking away.

My beloved Harmony 659 is starting to go. 2 of the buttons won’t work any more (and since one is the channel up/down button, that makes it kind of a drag). I know, I could reassign the button for now, but I think I’d rather get a nice shiny new rechargeable 880…and since Amazon has it for only $128 right now (damn, was $122 yesterday), maybe I should buy it and throw some more amazon credit Augie’s way.

Peter – In that case, I’m certainly not going to stop you from buying a new 880! Setting it up was easier than expected. I used it a bunch last night and had no problems, aside from the mental issues with learning a new button layout from the old remote.
