The Barenaked DVD
This one slipped by me until a recent Barenaked Ladies newsletter pointed it out: a live concert DVD from BNL. And it’s only $11 and change. Due out next month.
In other news: Click on the Amazon MP3 banner at the top of this page. They stock BNL albums, including live concerts. I just downloaded one from their last BNL cruise. Sounds good!

The BNL cruise concert may sound good on MP3, but trust me, it sounded much better in person. ;)
Which one did you download?

I’ve had literally dozens of opportunities to see these guys – 2 times for free when they played the local universities. While I think they’re “ok” _ I can’t see raving about them. For some reason, up here in the GREAT WHITE NORTH, they’re simply just not that popular. You could say the same thing about RUSH as well. Yet BLUE RODEO – packs it in here, sells out constantly – and maybe 3 people in the US know of them.

Augie — Ah, the first of the “big” concerts. I didn’t have tickets for that one (when you signed up, you got guaranteed seats to one of the two big concerts; there were opportunities to purchase/win access to the other, but I wasn’t lucky enough to get them. There were other opportunities to hear them, though.), but my girlfriend-at-the-time and I watched it on a big screen in a lounge that happened to be on a deck underneath the concert area. The entire trip was a blast — it was a floating music festival where none of the bands sucked. Plus, it was in the Caribbean in the middle of winter — how bad can that be? :) I’m going again on the next cruise, where not only will I be surrounded by good music, but I’m also planning on doing a little SCUBA diving in Grand Cayman during one of our excursion days.
Rob — You’re right, I’ve never heard of them. But I shall check them out, even though country rock isn’t my favorite genre. As for BNL, I can’t say why I love the band so much, I just do. I’ve seen them 19 times since ’99 (including the separate concerts on the cruise). I’m slightly obsessed, yes. :)
