- You’ve heard plenty about HD-DVD and Blu-Ray. Here’s an interesting blog post on the problems with the HD-DVD player and the overall experience. It’s slow and prone to damage, basically. But I still want to have it on my home theater.
- The RIAA is so desperate now that they’re suing people who rip their CDs into iTunes. (Update: Or maybe not. . . )
- Pro Darts player barely wins a tournament and blames his new Wii, joining a rich tradition of pro athletes hurting themselves on new videogames.
- Dissecting the donut.
- Target finishes with Christmas, immediately starts Easter. Wha–?!?
- When will Amy Winehouse die? Dot com.
- Zed Shaw flames out of Ruby on Rails. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how it should be done.
- Andy Ihnatko talks Twitter! But I really only link to it to show off the screen shots he’s using. heh heh

I’ve had a Toshiba HD-DVD player for about a month now, and I can’t say I’ve had many of the problems he mentioned. The long load time doesn’t seem that long to me anymore, but I see how it could annoying.
Only one HD disc from Netflix has been problematic, and that was just in one scene, not unheard of from a Netflix disc in any format.
I actually like the menu set up better then in standard DVD. ‘Though I’ve never used closed captioning, so I couldn’t say if it was harder to find then on an SD disc.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts once you get one, Auggie.

Not only is Target moving onto Easter, they started Valentine’s Day the week before Christmas! Seriously, can’t we have just one holiday at a time?

I decided to go the Blu-ray route due to my PS3 and I haven’t had any of the problems mentioned in that post. I have had one faulty disc from Netflix, but that happens to regular DVDs too. Speaking of which, it makes you wonder what other people are doing to these discs, because some of them are scratched to blazes like they used sandpaper to clean them! The nice thing is that Blu-ray has a nice scratch resistant coating, which makes them much harder to ruin,
