Meet and Heat

More wacky green news:

Next month, [PeopleCube] will announce Carbon Footprint Tracker, a program that links the company’s resource management software to building climate control systems. The software will do things like turn off the heat or air conditioning in a room when people are not scheduled to use it, and turn it back on before people use it.

I see this also as a great way to end meetings that run long. Have the system automatically turn up the heat in the summer or the air conditioning in the winter when there’s no meeting scheduled. If one runs long, people will be dying to get out. Heck, start it up 15 minutes before the meeting is scheduled to end. That’ll induce an end to the meeting.

It’ll destroy the green benefits, but it’ll certainly increase productivity.
