Announcing is my new photoblog.  Each day in 2009, you’ll see a photograph I made using my trusty Canon dSLR.

Now, I’m not one of those crazy Flickr types who promises to take a new picture every day.  That kind of madness inevitably leads to photos of the author looking into the bathroom mirror by day 40.  (I don’t discount the possibility of engaging in a self-portrait at some point this year.  I gleefully sign my own photo releases, after all.)

No, will have a new pic every day for 365 days (thank goodness 2009 isn’t a leap year), taken at any time.  You might see a pic taken the day before.  You might see a pic from the previous year.  And I might even mine the pictures currently on my Flickr account for material.  I’m throwing everything I’ve got into this project.

The goal is to make myself a more prolific photographer by forcing me to take more pictures for the blog and, hopefully, to become a better photographer for the experience.  And if this leads to some paid work in the future, all the better.

This week, we’re starting with Christmas ornament pictures.

  1. Congrats on your new endeavor!! A daily exercise in creativity is a tall order… especially for a working father of a newborn. Best of luck with it!

  2. Thanks, Matthew! I am cheating a little bit — I’m not planning on taking a new pic every day specifically for the blog. I’ll be shooting a lot for it this year, but I’m also using all my shots from 2008 mixed into there, too.

Jonah — Thanks! I’ll be in touch on all the background details.
