Hi Rob --

1. I think truly downloadable full editions of movies is still years away. We'll get there someday, but there's still too much clogging the pipes, and you know the cable companies aren't going to take that sitting down.

2. I'll let you know once my daughter is old enough to notice. But probably not.

3. BR players are still backwards compatible.

4. No, you can't. Give in. Buy Bond for the fifth time. ;-)

5. Yeah, BR supports 7.1, but I'm sticking with 5.1. I doubt I'll lose much.

HDTV has ruined us all. DVDs just aren't good enough anymore.

I too may be jumping over to bluray if Santa is good to me.
A few of my worries
1. Is this a Betamax and downloadable movies the VHS?
2. Will I need to replace my portable DVD player with a portable BR player?
3. I currently have a DVD player on each of my 4 tv's as well as 2 macs. Replacement costs could be high and BR discs will limit me to only the one TV
4. Can I really hold myself back from Getting Box sets (BR Starwars, Disney or 007)?
5. Need to upgrade my audio system... 5 speaker surround was so 1999...

But, it will be really outstanding to see the new shiny graphics and content goodness. As the movies make better use of newer tech (I'm talking to you Avatar), it would be a shame to view it on a STD DVD player...

Keep us updated on your new audio system performance w br. Glad you've finally got it all up!
